Confidentiality
This is a very important aspect of the psychotherapy, counselling and coaching relationship. Everything discussed in a session is kept in the strictest confidence. As members of respective professional organisations, all practitioners are required to have regular supervision and will need to discuss their work with a Supervisor from time to time. However, we will not disclose your name or anything that would enable you to be identified. Any information a Supervisor receives is also treated as confidential and subject to the same ethical criteria as counselling. If you are being treated by your Doctor for emotional difficulties, it is important that you inform him or her about our work together, and vice versa. We will not confer with your Doctor without your knowledge and permission. If there is convincing evidence that you intend to harm yourself or others, we may need to break confidentiality by informing your Doctor, or in serious cases the Police, emergency services, or other appropriate third parties. Wherever possible, and if it is considered appropriate, you will be informed of this. We may keep brief notes after a session, which will be securely stored.
The Counsellor will adhere to the BACP (British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists) code of ethics for Professional Counsellors. The codes of ethics can be found in more detail on the website of each organization:
All Prohab Psychotherapy Counsellors carry their own professional liability insurance.

We fully comply with data protection legislation including the Data Protection Act 2018 and medical confidentiality guidelines.
